No Compromise

Compromise means to make a deal where one person gives up part of his or her demand. In argumentscompromise is a concept of finding agreement through communication, through a mutual acceptance of terms—often involving variations from an original goal or desire.

Deity means God.

Colossians 2: 1-10

The Apostle Paul is speaking….
1I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. 2 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. 5 For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces[a] of this world rather than on Christ.
9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.

Have you ever wondered why the trees blow in the same direction as the wind? Evidently the wind is stronger than the tree limbs or branches in order to make it move.  Some people can look up at the trees and say, “Oh it looks like we have an East wind” or “Oh it looks like that rain is coming from the West". Well, the wind blows the tree branches and a wind direction conclusion is made based on the observation of which way the trees are blowing.

Based on this, we know that the wind is stronger and that the tree limbs have to go in the same direction that the wind is blowing or drives.

What drives us? The Word of God drives us in the direction He wants us to go. Paul said, My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding. He wrote these letters to benefit these people so that they could walk in the FULL understanding. Essentially, he was telling the people to not compromise or give up on what God intends for you to do for the Kingdom. The goal is not to listen to anyone who has a mouthpiece, but to listen to the truth. In Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

Paul said, I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. 5 For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
This empowers us to not be fluffed up by smooth talk or dealings that do not line up with the Word of God. Sometimes we fall for some things because we just do not know any better, whether we should have known or not. But now that we know, we should not be falling for the same things. For example, someone offers to give you a free week at a time share in Orlando, Florida the same week that you are suppose to be helping out a friend or family move. What would you do? We get deceived by what seems good and miss out on the blessing that we could have received from God for doing a goodwill, which has a much higher value than any time share can ever pay.
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. (Colossians 2)
Therefore, since Christ is head over every power, why are we spending time on temporary things instead of investing in something that will last and endure. We will let Christ serve as the wind and blow us in the direction He wants us to go. Sometimes we may not understand everything about where we are to go or what we are to do; but if we will just let Him drive us, He will send us to places to do his good works.

With Thanksgiving!

Blessings and Peace,
LaKenya Moore

Thank You!

Thank You DFA and Family   This serves as a “Thank You” to all of you who are reading this right now. Today is my last day at DFA. Although some of you were here when I came to DFA back in June of 2000, many have retired or moved on to various other assignments. Some have come after I started with DFA. I have had the opportunity over the last few weeks to execute a brief version of a succession plan. What usually takes years, I had to condense in a few weeks. However, I feel assured that the work of DFA will continue with excellence. I did not want any of you to worry about how you were getting paid, so I preferred to work until my last day and think of it as a “see you soon” rather than a "good bye". Good byes are not my forte, because they seem so final. So, I will see you soon. I will be rooting for you and know that DFA will succeed. The years and seasons have gone by so quickly. Time surely waits for no one. As a nation and state, we find ourselves still in the m

Don't Waste Your Time...

Don't waste your time arguing with or listening to people who are argumentative by nature. Some people will "argue with a stop sign", that's what they use to say in the old days. Just ignore the noise and focus on other things that are more important. Let the small stuff go! There are many more urgent things going on that require more attention. Let us take a look at John chapter nine. Here, Jesus heals a man who was blind at birth and the Pharisees were trying to find out every thing they could to find fault in the miraculous thing Jesus did for this man. First, the disciples asked Jesus, what sin did the man commit? John 9:1 - As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answers, 3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him w

What profits a Person to Gain the Whole World?

What Profits a Person to Gain the Whole World and lose his/her soul? The soul is deemed integral or essential to consciousness and personality . As I contemplate on this thought, I have to take a look in the mirror at myself. With any evaluation made, one must first perform a self assessment , which equates to self-awareness . Knowing where you stand on a particular subject or how you feel about a particular topic, first requires some soul searching and getting to know SELF . So, I ponder and pray sometimes about the direction God wants me to take; about the decisions God wants me to make; about the work God wants me to do; about the associations God wants me involved in; about the influences God wants me to have on others; about the thoughts God wants me to write; and about the people God wants me to touch; then I pick up my Bible to read and He reveals some of these things that I ponder over. Oftentimes, I may not know where to start, but He leads me to where he wants me to g

Keep Your Head Up~

There are situations and people who we may come across or encounter that attempt to still the joy and positive forces that God so freely gives to all of us. What benefits a person to look on the down side of everything and live in such defeat? It would be so easy to slip away into this state of euphoria and block out these rays of counter forces, but God wants us to be bold and release the truth into the lives of these people. Acquiring and sustaining such a state of what I call "Euphoria" is available. 2Corinthians 3:17 states "Now the Lord is the Spirit ; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty ." Furthermore in verse 18, it reads "But we all, with unveiled face , beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory , just as by the Spirit of the Lord." Unveiling and taking off the mask of defeat, opens up a whole new awakening to the truth. The Spirit of the Lord equals liberty
