You Thought!

You thought you were not going to get over that stronghold. You thought you weren't going to get over that sickness that almost made you give in to it. You thought you weren't going to get over that broken relationship. You thought you weren't going to make friends at your new school. You thought that you would always succumb to dysfunctional relationships. You thought you weren't going to get along with the people at your job. You thought you were the only one feeling lonely, yet surrounded by people everyday. You thought you weren't going to understand the Pastor's message. You thought that when you read your Bible, you wouldn't get the revelation. But God gave you the anointing to press through everything you thought you wouldn't make it out of, from or through.  You see people can't fill the void that only God can. People can't save you or deliver you from attacks that are designed for God's deliverance.

Psalm 37:39 reads, But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble. 40 And the Lord shall help them and deliver them. He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.

We think that if things don't go quite the way we thought they should, somehow we can try to make it work out by our own manipulations. We thought we could call on our friend to fix it for us; to make things right; to set the record straight. It's in these times, that we realize that we can't make it right with them, our our might, knowledge, experience, or mechanisms. To be honest, often times, when we expect people to really be there for us, they are no where to be found. It may not be convenient for them for whatever reason. (Maybe God orchestrated this so that He could show us His hand)

When we really trust God and partake in righteous living, we find that He is All we need in order to be delivered from the strongholds that have had a grasp on us for most, if not all of our lives. Addictions, rejection, low self-esteem, insecurities, anger, lying, mistrust, foolery, gossiping, jealousy and so on are all strongholds that may have us bound to the chains of this World. Falling on our knees and admitting to God that we need help, deliverance, a fresh new start, He will hear us and deliver us from all those things we thought we wouldn't make it past. Trusting requires us surrendering it all over to God and saying, "God it's yours and I relinquish it over to you". Now we have a part in this also, if you give it to God, we have to loose our ties and believe that He will take it and replace those former thoughts with new ones that align with His Will for our lives.  Hence, He then gives us the assurance that those former thoughts are no longer living in us as we start to see the manifestation in our lives from God's thoughts.

So, as we move forward, know that what we thought, is no longer. Our trust in God activates a new life alert that will come to our rescue in times of trouble. Those who are not in right standing with God can repent right now and turn away from the former thoughts and towards God to receive the strength, help, and deliverance that He so freely gives to those who trust in Him; those who say and know, "Lord, I can't do this without you, I need You to intervene to make things right, I will from this day forward live for you, serve you, and share your truth with all those who have the desire to know You".

Dear Lord,
I pray that those who need deliverance, salvation, and assurance that You are the Deliverer will seek You right now. Those things that are in us that are not of  You will be purged and not show up in us from this day forth. We will trust in your Word and ways. There is no other that can help us when You are the only one who was sent to do so. We receive the people whom you may use to help us in our needs. We will accept them with love and we ask for discernment to know that they were actually sent by You. In our weakness, You are strong! We acknowledge that you are the one and only Redeemer. We love you and praise you for turning our thoughts around to see the good that You have set before those who seek You and we will do what it takes to maintain right standing with You through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

In Jesus' Name,
Amen

Thank You!

Thank You DFA and Family   This serves as a “Thank You” to all of you who are reading this right now. Today is my last day at DFA. Although some of you were here when I came to DFA back in June of 2000, many have retired or moved on to various other assignments. Some have come after I started with DFA. I have had the opportunity over the last few weeks to execute a brief version of a succession plan. What usually takes years, I had to condense in a few weeks. However, I feel assured that the work of DFA will continue with excellence. I did not want any of you to worry about how you were getting paid, so I preferred to work until my last day and think of it as a “see you soon” rather than a "good bye". Good byes are not my forte, because they seem so final. So, I will see you soon. I will be rooting for you and know that DFA will succeed. The years and seasons have gone by so quickly. Time surely waits for no one. As a nation and state, we find ourselves still in the m

Don't Waste Your Time...

Don't waste your time arguing with or listening to people who are argumentative by nature. Some people will "argue with a stop sign", that's what they use to say in the old days. Just ignore the noise and focus on other things that are more important. Let the small stuff go! There are many more urgent things going on that require more attention. Let us take a look at John chapter nine. Here, Jesus heals a man who was blind at birth and the Pharisees were trying to find out every thing they could to find fault in the miraculous thing Jesus did for this man. First, the disciples asked Jesus, what sin did the man commit? John 9:1 - As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answers, 3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him w

What profits a Person to Gain the Whole World?

What Profits a Person to Gain the Whole World and lose his/her soul? The soul is deemed integral or essential to consciousness and personality . As I contemplate on this thought, I have to take a look in the mirror at myself. With any evaluation made, one must first perform a self assessment , which equates to self-awareness . Knowing where you stand on a particular subject or how you feel about a particular topic, first requires some soul searching and getting to know SELF . So, I ponder and pray sometimes about the direction God wants me to take; about the decisions God wants me to make; about the work God wants me to do; about the associations God wants me involved in; about the influences God wants me to have on others; about the thoughts God wants me to write; and about the people God wants me to touch; then I pick up my Bible to read and He reveals some of these things that I ponder over. Oftentimes, I may not know where to start, but He leads me to where he wants me to g

Hold Tight

While driving along the highway in the mist of a wind storm or heavy thunderstorm, the first thought may be to pull over along the side of the road and wait for the conditions to become more favorable for driving. With the wind gusts blowing the car from left to right or the heavy raindrops pounding against the windshields, visibility decreases; likewise, the desire to hold the steering wheel a little tighter increases as the gusts carry the car along the road. What is the consequence of pulling over and waiting this thing out? In the mist of adversity, there is a covering that is extended to the chosen. In Psalm 91: 5-8, the Psalmist writes about the protection against the adversary. Those that come up against you will not prevail. They will fall to either side, but not come near. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side,
